Man arrested for bid to loot bank

NAWANSHAHR: The police detained a man on suspicion after a loaded gun was found on the premises of a SBI branch in Balachaur here. As per the police, bank officials informed the police about a suspicious man after which the police detained him.

Nawanshahr, October 17

The police detained a man on suspicion after a loaded gun was found on the premises of a SBI branch in Balachaur here.

As per the police, bank officials informed the police about a suspicious man after which the police detained him.

The interrogation of the person was held for the whole day. The man has been identified as Gurpreet Singh (34) from Ahmadgarh.

Deepak Hilori, SSP, Nawanshahr, said he was being interrogated.

“The suspect was found outside the bank. We are investigating the matter and everything will be cleared soon,” the SSP said.

Later, the police arrested Gurpreet and registered a case under Sections 393 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 25 of the Arms Act.

The police said during the interrogation it was found that two more persons were involved in an attempt to loot the bank.
