Man arrested, kin booked for suicide of woman
The police have named four persons and arrested a person on the charge of allegedly forcing a married woman to commit suicide. According to information, Raj Kumar, a resident of Ram Nagar, Garhshankar, told the police that his sister Kanta Devi was married to Gagandeep Singh, a resident of Ward No. 5 of Garhshankar, on March 2, 2024.
According to him, after the marriage, his sister's husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law Amarjit Kaur and sister-in-law Prabh, alias Jyoti, started harassed her. He told the police that on November 8, 2024, his sister gave birth to a child Abhijot.
Due to the child's health not being good, he was admitted to a hospital. He alleged that during this, his sister's father-in-law allegedly gave a spoon of brandy and salt to the child. After which his health deteriorated.
According to him, when he reached the hospital, the accused started demanding half the expenses for the child's treatment. After which his brother deposited some money in cash and some in the account. He said his sister, fed up with the harassment of her in-laws, ended her life by hanging herself. After registering a case against the four accused, the police have arrested the accused husband Gagandeep Singh. OC
