Man ‘assaults’ sister over family dispute

PHAGWARA: Surinder Kaur, a resident of Phagwara and wife of a medal-winning Inspector Surinder Singh Parmar, posted in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar is running pillar to post to get justice in a family dispute case.

Surinder Kaur, a resident of Phagwara and wife of a medal-winning Inspector Surinder Singh Parmar, posted in Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar is running pillar to post to get justice in a family dispute case.

She said her brother Paramjit Singh entered her house forcibly and assaulted her to get 7 acres of her land that she inherited from her father’s property. She said she had lodged a complaint and was knocking the doors of the police for the last three months, but has received no help so far.

She said her father Naginder Singh expired in 1969 and his 42 acres land was distributed among his six children- four brothers and two sisters, but her brothers were bent upon grabbing her share of land also.

When contacted, SHO Jatinderjit Singh said the police was investigating the matter.
