In a tragic incident, the body of a middle-aged man was recovered from a village pond in Sarhali village near Phagwara on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Santokh Ram, a resident of the same village.

According to information received, some villagers noticed a body floating in the pond and immediately alerted the local police. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the incident came to light when villagers gathered near the pond for routine activities and spotted the body floating on the surface. The identity of the deceased was later confirmed by family members.

The police have sent the body to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.
