Man found murdered

An unidentified middle-aged person was found murdered behind Haweli Heritage near the railway lines in Khajurala village this evening.

Phagwara ASP Sandeep Malik while confirming the incident said the deceased might be strangulated. There were injury marks, inflicted apparently by a sharp-edged weapon, on the neck of the deceased.

Though the SHO Sadar had been sent to investigate the case, the jurisdiction between the railway police and the Sadar police was yet to be decided, the ASP said.

The culprits threw the body after murder in the bushes near the railway lines two-three days ago. The body had been sent to the local Civil Hospital for the post-mortem examination, the ASP said.

He said the body would be kept in the hospital for identification for 48 hours after the autopsy.
