Man held for illegal liquor trade in Ganna Pind village, 60 bottles seized
A case registered under Section 61(1) (14) of the Excise Act
Continuing with its drive against the illegal liquor trade, the police have arrested one person and recovered a large quantity of illicit liquor from his possession. A case has been registered under Section 61(1) (14) of the Excise Act against him.
Phillaur DSP Bharat Masih said a special informer approached him and provided information that Jasveer Chand, alias Mani, a resident of Ganna Pind, was actively involved in the illegal sale of liquor.
Acting on the tip-off, the police conducted a raid and apprehended the accused. During investigation, the police recovered 60 bottles of illicit liquor, amounting to approximately 45,000 millilitres, from his possession. The accused was arrested on the spot and the liquor taken into police custody.
The police said further investigation was underway to trace the source of the illicit liquor and to identify other persons involved in the illegal trade. The police reiterated that strict action would continue against those indulging in unlawful liquor business to curb such activities in the area.
