The victim, Arun Sharma, told the police that he was on his way to Himachal Pradesh with his family for a visit to religious shrine. While passing through Satnampura Road, he stopped at an ATM to withdraw cash. As he attempted to operate the machine, he faced some issues, at which point an unknown youth standing nearby offered assistance.

The suspect reportedly engaged the victim in conversation and, under the pretext of helping him complete the transaction, managed to swap the victim's ATM card with another card without his knowledge. Shortly after leaving the ATM booth and covering a considerable distance, the victim received a message on his mobile phone indicating that Rs 40,000 had been withdrawn from his bank account.

Upon checking his wallet, he discovered that the ATM card in his possession was not his own, leading him to suspect that it had been replaced by the fraudster during the interaction. Realising he had been cheated, he immediately informed the Satnampura police.

Police officials registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident. The CCTV footage from the ATM kiosk and nearby areas is being examined to identify the accused.
