Manso assumes charge as Kapurthala Mayor

Promises transparent governance, cleaner city, improved civic services

Narinder Singh Manso on Friday assumed charge as Mayor of the Kapurthala Municipal Corporation in the presence of Punjab Cabinet Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian and Member of Parliament Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal. Kamakshi Duggal and Sameer Sharma also took charge as Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor, respectively.

After assuming office, Manso thanked Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party leadership for reposing faith in him. Manso said he would discharge his responsibilities with dedication, honesty and commitment while ensuring a transparent, accountable and citizen-centric administration. Serving the public and ensuring the prompt redressal of grievances, he said, would remain his foremost priority. He also pledged to strengthen civic infrastructure and improve public amenities across the city.

Manso also asserted that corruption and inefficiency in service delivery would not be tolerated, warning that strict action would be taken against anyone found indulging in corrupt practices.

Congratulating the newly elected Mayor and his team, Hardeep Singh Mundian said the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was working to realise its vision of a “Rangla Punjab” through comprehensive development across the state.

Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal expressed confidence that Manso, along with the Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor, would work with dedication to accelerate the city’s development and improve civic amenities. He also assured that the Punjab Government would provide the necessary funds for the development of the heritage city.

Among those present were District Planning Board Chairman Sarbjeet Singh Lubana, Sultanpur Lodhi halka in-charge Sajjan Singh Cheema, Kapurthala halka in-charge Karambir Singh Chandi, senior AAP leader Parvinder Singh Dhot and councillors.
