Parminder Singh Kala, head of the Shastri Market Association, and his son Prabhjot Singh were arrested on Thursday by the New Baradari police here in a fraud case.
Reportedly both of them were charged with misappropriation of Rs 57 lakh. SHO Balbir Singh confirmed the arrest of the accused and said after a complaint was registered by the victim, the father-son duo were found guilty in the investigation, which eventually led them to their arrest.
Gurbachan Singh, a resident of Choti Baradari, said he had decided to sell one of his buildings located on Kamal Palace Road to Parminder.
Later, Parminder paid the booking amount for the possession of the building and had assured to pay the remaining amount in a few months for the registry of the property. During the signing of the agreement, he had also written about starting tyre business in the building and even started the business before the final registry. However, when the time of the registry came, he hesitated to pay the remaining amount and evaded the building owner.
