Medical Hall robbery case cracked, two in police net

The crime branch of the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate has cracked the Imperial Medical Hall robbery case by arresting two persons involved in the incident and seized the weapon used in the crime.

During a press conference, ADCP, Investigation, Aditya Warrier said Jivesh Ahuja of JP Nagar, the owner of medical store, had said on July 27, while he was in his store, two persons armed with iron machetes entered his store, posing as customers and attacked him. The assailants then managed to take away between Rs 45,000 and Rs 50,000 from the cash counter.
Following which, an FIR was registered under Sections 307, 351(2) and 3(5), BNS, at Police Division Number 4, initiating an investigation.
ADCP Warrier said utilising a combination of technical support, human intelligence and scientific evidence, the police identified the culprits as Jasvir Singh of village Rouli in Mehatpur and Chamkaur Singh, alias Kaura, of village Dhugra in Mehatpur.
“The police apprehended both suspects, recovering Rs 41,200 of the stolen money, an iron machete used in the crime, a black motorcycle used in the crime and the clothes worn during the robbery”, he said.
He further revealed that Chamkaur was a habitual offender with 12 cases of robbery and dacoity registered against him in various police stations, driven by his need to fund his narcotics addiction.
ADCP Aditya said further investigation uncovered that both suspects had also committed another robbery at Sood Medical Store in Sultanpur Lodhi, where they stole Rs 12,000. “The accused have been taken in the remand and further investigations are expected to reveal more details about the crimes they had committed in the past”, he added.
