Sultanpur Lodhi, October 17
Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Charanjit Singh Channi reviewed the ongoing works near Gurdwara Ber Sahib and tent city, near Machijova village, on Thursday.
Accompanied by MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, Deputy Commissioner DPS Kharbanda and Director of the Tourism Department MS Jaggi, the minister said all development projects would be completed by October 22 for trial run. He said Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh would dedicate the development projects worth Rs400 crore to the people on October 23. The CM would also lay a foundation stone to name the Sultanpur Lodhi-Dera Baba Nanak road passing via Subhanpur-Beas- Batala as Guru Nanak Marg, the minister said.
Channi said to ensure success of Gurpurb, he would remain permanently stationed at Sultanpur Lodhi. Following the philosophy of Guru Nanak, Punjab Government had invited dignitaries from across the globe for the event. He said many foreign ambassadors, Chief Ministers of states and prominent personalities from other countries would attend the function.
MLA Navtej Singh Cheema said the projects to be inaugurated by the CM included bus stand, two bridges on holy Bein (Talwandi Chaudrian and Machijova), two pantoon bridges on holy Bein, a guest house by the PWD, a high-level bridge near Busowal village and 66 KV substation at Arya Samaj Chowk.
Later, the minister presided over a meeting of civil officials to review the preparations for Gurpurb celebrations.
ADC Rahul Chabha, SDM Charumita, Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, Randeep Singh Heer, OSD for 550th Gurpurab celebrations Navneet Kaur Bal and senior officials from various departments were present on the occasion. — TNS
