The state Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, visited government schools here on Tuesday to inspect the ongoing extra classes and activities being held under the Mission Cent Percent.

He lauded the efforts of district Education Department officials for converting schools into self-made smart schools. He exhorted them to ensure that the students of the government schools are prepared well to face the challenges of present era of globalisation and that they score good marks in the ensuing board exams.

The Education Secretary visited six government schools at Shanker, Lohian Khas, Jamsher Khas and Khusropur in Jalandhar district. He also convened a meeting with officials of the Jalandhar and Kapurthala Education Department at a private institute. He lauded the dedication of principal Ashok Basra and the staff members of Government Senior Secondary School for Boys, Jamsher Khas, for organising evening classes.

“Our efforts towards bringing in qualitative improvement in education should not be vague or a wasteful exercise. Instead, the proper analysis of the available data should be ensured so that we can identify the grey areas in infrastructural facilities, BALA work, enrollment, subject and class wise progress of students, implementation of e-content, so that the resources, energy and innovations could be focused in right direction”, he said.

While emphasising on the Mission Cent Percent and going through PowerPoint presentations presented by school heads, Education Secretary said the strategies highlighted in the presentations would not only help district officials play a proactive role in achieving the desired results, but hone up their skills to prepare a vision for improvement in school education.

He further appealed to the school principals and headmasters to put up their best efforts for bringing in qualitative improvement in the standard of education and said that no mission of the Education Department is successful without their cooperation.

He also interacted with students in each school and wished them good luck for the exams and their bright future. He asked students to clear their doubts with the teachers without any hesitation and make complete use of the practice sheets and among other study materials available at their respective schools.

He further asked DEOs, principals and teachers to strictly check the answer sheets of the students and ensure free and fair conduct of the exams.

Meanhwile, Jarnail Singh Kaleke, Deputy Director (Trainings), Davinder Boha, State Coordinator, Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab (Primary), Nirmal Kaur, State Coordinator (mathematics) accompanied the Education Secretary during his visit and among other present on the occasion include DEOs, Deputy DEOs and BPEOs of Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts.
