In a bid to prevent vector-borne diseases by creating awareness and ensuring mass participation under Tandarust Punjab Mission, the Punjab Government is set to run a mobile van, which would cover rural and urban areas of the district.
Lok Sabha MP from Jalandhar Chaudhary Santokh Singh would flag off the van along with senior officials of administration and the Health Department on Saturday at 10 am in Civil Surgeon’s office. 5 and Bhogpur on August 27.
He said the mobile van comprises Health Department officials who would not only educate people about vector-borne diseases, including dengue and malaria, but also tell them about the possible breeding grounds of mosquitoes.
Further, the spokesperson said health officials would also fumigate breeding places like stagnant water, desert coolers, flower pots, water containers, tyres, fridge trays and would also tell the people how to identify the larvae.
They would also distribute pamphlets among the people to make them aware of vector-borne diseases. He said a documentary generating awareness regarding the advisory measures would also be staged. —OC
