Chairman of the Improvement Trust, Ramnik Singh Randhawa, visited the Model Town cremation ground to review the proposed renovation and development works. The Model Town Cremation Ground Society welcomed him and expressed gratitude for his interest in the improvement and development of the cremation ground and its surrounding areas. During the visit, Randhawa inspected the present condition of the cremation ground and held detailed discussions on the upcoming development plan.
The proposed works include beautification of the premises, proper boundary development, improved internal pathways, an efficient drainage system, enhanced cleanliness arrangements, development of a well-organised parking area for public convenience.
Members of the society said that the Model Town cremation ground is an essential civic facility for residents of Model Town and adjoining areas and that these improvements will provide much-needed comfort and better facilities to public in the future.
On the occasion, the society also expressed thanks to Rajya Sabha Member Ashok Mittal for approving a grant of Rs 1 crore for renovation and development of the cremation ground. Varinder Malik, Jaswinder Singh Sahni, Kanwaljit Singh (Tony), Rajeev Duggal, Lalit Trikha and Swatantra Chawla were present.
