Continuing his visits to flood-hit areas, MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary, along with PPCC general secretary Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary on Sunday spent his entire day visiting flood-hit areas of (Phillaur) Puwari, Salkiana, Meonwal, Motipur Khalsa and took stock of the situation that arose due to the release of excess water from the Bhakra Dam into the Sutlej river on Saturday.
After inspecting the damage caused at Puwari village, Chaudhary spoke to Water Resources Minister Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria and apprised him of the state of affairs.
Chaudhary directed the officials concerned to arrange the required machines and expedite the removal of obstructions in water flow.
Later, accompanied by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, MLA Sanjay Talwar, general secretary, Punjab Congress Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, Jalandhar ADC Jasbir Singh, SDO, drainage Davinder Singh and Municipal Council president Phillaur, Narinder Goyal, MP Chaudhary examined the progress of filling of breach in Meonwal village, Phillaur.
