According to official information, police personnel, were present at a checkpoint when a telephonic message was received from Sardul Singh, former Sarpanch of Dhariwal. The caller informed the police that an armed attack had taken place on Gurnam Singh and his son Gurpreet Singh, residents of Dhariwal Colony.
Acting swiftly, the police team reached the spot where complainant Gurnam Singh submitted a written statement detailing the sequence of events. He stated that on February 27, 2026, at approximately 5.15 pm, he and his son Gurpreet Singh were standing in the street to attend a wedding ceremony of their relative Vishal, in Dhariwal Colony.
During the function, Vishal Thapar alias Jordan, allegedly confronted Gurpreet Singh and used abusive language. Shortly thereafter, another youth, later identified as Karan, resident of Rajapur near Kapurthala, arrived at the scene carrying a pistol.
