His associates, lawyers and everyone else that accompanied him were anxious, but former Mayor Suresh Sehgal, who has remained a national-level wrestler, looked visibly calm and patient today before the judgment was announced in the court.

He did not bewilder for a moment even after his bail application was rejected. He remain undeterred and kept smiling. He was ready to give answer to every question.

Before the judgment of Sehgal being sent to judicial custody was announced, he talked to The Tribune. He was confident and expressed his feeling. “The sad part is my side of the story did not come in front of people in the form of video. I was fighting against corruption and could not control my emotions when a woman was targeted, but I am ready to face any action,” Sehgal said.

“I have remained the Mayor and know everything how these officials work. Corruption is penetrated into the system so deeply that it needs to be eradicated. But one thing is clear that the whole incident is not going to deter me from fighting against corruption,” he said.

Even after the judgment was announced, he said he respected the decision of the court but was not sorry for what he had done. “I fought for the right thing and will continue to do so,” he said.

Building inspector Dinesh Joshi while talking to mediapersons after the judgment said he was happy that justice was given and he had full faith in the judiciary.

He said the order had sent a message in favour of all government employees who work and do their duties.

“The point is even if one has any complaint with anyone, there is a way to deal with that and violence is notrequired,” Joshi said.
