National Equestrian Championship: Aakash scores perfect 6-6-6 in less than 6 seconds

It was the second day of the National Equestrian Championship (Tent Pegging) that is being held on the Punjab Armed Police (PAP) ground. Very exciting event of individual lance (Ring and Peg) was witnessed today in which the experienced riders from across the country showcased their talent.

It was interesting to see the coordination between the rider and the horse. A rider rotated his lance in the air happily the moment he took the peg. Another rider and his horse came with high speed flying the dust everywhere.

At one moment, everyone skipped a heartbeat, when a rider, who was on the horse 'Ronaldo', fell off the moment he got the rings and the peg off the ground. Ronaldo is the recent purchase by the Punjab Armed Police (PAP). He was brought by the PAP, Jalandhar, two months ago.

Ranaldo showed some resistance in the start as he wasn't getting ready to play. But the moment the rider made him ready with his special technique, Ronaldo started, but, at the end, the rider fell on the ground.

From 'Lucky Boy' to 'Nice Girl'

It was the names of the horses that brought smiles on the audiences’ faces.

Lucky Boy, Candy, Baby, Billoo, Nice Girl, Monika, Billoo, Prem, were a few of the interesting names of the horses that participated.

A rider Aakash who was riding 'Prem' scored a perfect score of 6-6-6 by taking both rings and peg in less than 6 seconds.

The game originated when Army personnel would take away the peg with the swords while riding on horses and the tent of enemies would get destroyed.

Teams participating in event

As many as 14 teams are participating in the event, including the 61st Cavalry, AMU Riding Club, ASC Equestrian team, Assam Rifles, BSF Equestrian team, Chandigarh Police, Chetak Equestrian Sports Academy and Verinand, Dhruv Equestrian Node, Haryana Police, Indian Navy, ITBP, Bhanu, Rajasthan Police, RVC Hempur and PAP.
