NGO Pahal organises workshop on e-waste

Youth organisation Pahal organised a workshop under the Karo Sambhav School Programme here today.

Harbir Singh, Superintending Engineer, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Jalandhar division, was the chief guest. He said environment pollution and climate change are the major problems today and handling e-waste had emerged as a big challenge today.

Prof Lakhbir Singh, president, Pahal, said right solution to all the problems is awareness and education along with the implementation of environmental laws. Liakatbir Singh, Executive Director, Pahal, said 50 selected schools for the Karo Sambhav School Programme have been given assignments in the induction workshop.

Shiv Jyoti Public School, Kamla Nehru Public School, LJN DAV Model School, Sant Raghbir Singh AIMS Public School, Sant Sarwan Dass Model School, Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Senior Secondary School, Government Senior Secondary School Kadianwali, Lyallpur Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Nirmaan School, Government Model co-ed Senior Secondary School, St Soldier Divine Public School along with other participating school gave Power Point presentations, street plays and held lectures.

Liakatbir Singh conducted the show and Harvinder Kaur Principal Nirmaan School presented a vote of thanks. All 50 schools will be invited in the grand finale in March, in which the best performing schools will be awarded and honoured for their contribution towards sustainable environment development.
