Former Mayor Sunil Jyoti said today that present Mayor Jagdish Raja and Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu have decided that they won’t let the Municipal Corporation function.

He said the Mayor had not made any progress in the corporation and instead, he had stopped the projects such as LED light, sweeping machine, and PIDB.

Jyoti also flayed the incident of boycotting of the General House meeting by officials of different branches of the Municipal Corporation.

He said when one of the officials named the MLA, the Mayor defended him.

Jyoti said he did not appreciate the incident as the officials were insulted during the meeting.

He also termed Jagdish Raja as a ‘dummy mayor’.

The former mayor said the LED light project had been mired in controversy as neither councillor Rohan Sehgal, who was raising the issue, nor those who were investigating were themselves clear on the actual amount of the scam.

“The councillor says that it was a Rs 274-crore scam and the Local Bodies Minister says it is a Rs 35-crore scam. They are not clear on any point related to the project,” Jyoti said.
