No-Scalpel Vasectomy fortnight from Nov 21

JALANDHAR: In an attempt to increase the participation of men in family planning measures, the Health Department will start ‘No-Scalpel Vasectomy’ (NSV)’ fortnight from November 21 to December 4 in the district.

Jalandhar, November 17

In an attempt to increase the participation of men in family planning measures, the Health Department will start ‘No-Scalpel Vasectomy’ (NSV)’ fortnight from November 21 to December 4 in the district.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Varinder Kumar Sharma, said under this fortnight, a mobilisation drive would be carried out by frontline health workers including auxiliary nurse midwives (ANMs), Accredited Social Health Activists, among others, in all blocks of the district from November 21 to November 28 and service delivery week would be observed from November 28 to December 4.

The DC said in the first week, ANMs, ASHAs, multipurpose health workers (Male), sanitation inspectors and others would identify and sensitised the interested couples, especially men, to undergo NSV, a permanent surgical birth control measure.

Civil Surgeon Rajesh Bagga said health workers would apprised the participants of doubts that people had about family planning and would prepare a list of those couples who were ready to adopt family planning measures. — TNS
