Not taking action on the complaint of a villager cost the sarpanch of Lambra village his life on Monday night. According to information, the victim’s brother Harjinder Singh of Lambra village told the police that at around 7.30 pm on Tuesday, his brother and sarpanch of the village, Davinder Singh (47), son of Gurmeet Singh, stopped at the flour mill of Jung Bahadar Singh of the village while coming on his bike from the bus stop of the village.
Meanwhile, Jagmohan Singh, alias Mohni, came on his scooter and stopped it before his bike and started hitting Jung Bahadur with a stick on his head. He said Jung Bahadur, with great difficulty, prevented Jagmohan Singh, alias Mohani, from assaulting him, and the accused absconded from the place after people gathered there.
Sarpanch Davinder Singh was taken to Shamchurasi Hospital in an injured condition where doctors referred him to the Civil Hospital owing to his serious condition where he died around midnight. Harjinder Singh, said that the reason for the murder was that the accused Jagmohan Singh, alias Mohni, had a dispute with his neighbour Raju, son of Sukhdev Singh, due to the cutting of some trees, but Davinder could not take action over the application given by Jagmohan and he nursed a grudge over it in his mind and killed him. The police have registered a case of murder against the accused and he would be arrested soon.
