NRIs donate Rs 3 lakh for sewerage project

Phagwara: In a significant boost to rural development, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) extended generous support to the ongoing sewerage pipeline project in Lakhpur Village by contributing a substantial amount of Rs 3 lakh. The financial assistance was formally handed over to village Sarpanch Gurmeet Singh Gogi, reflecting strong overseas community participation in grassroots development.

The work of laying the sewerage pipeline from the residence of Bikram Singh up to the village Water Treatment Plant was formally inaugurated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony by NRI Ragbir Singh, son of Atma Singh. The occasion marked an important milestone in improving sanitation infrastructure and drainage facilities in the village.

The NRIs lauded the Panchayat and the Village Development Committee for undertaking comprehensive and transparent development works and assured continued support for future initiatives. Addressing the gathering, Sarpanch Gurmeet Singh Gogi stated that areas lacking proper sewerage and drainage facilities are being prioritized to ensure hygienic living conditions for all residents. He emphasized that development in Lakhpur is being carried out above political considerations, solely in the interest of public welfare.

Retired Principal Jaswinder Singh Bangar highly appreciated the contributions made by the NRIs, acknowledging Rs 1 lakh donated by Ragbir Singh, Rs 50,000 each by Dr. Satnam Singh Bangar and Mohan Lal Bangar, and Rs 1 lakh by former Sarpanch Pyara Singh Dhaddwal. He expressed confidence that with such wholehearted cooperation from NRIs and local residents alike, Lakhpur would soon emerge as a model village.

Several prominent villagers and Panchayat members, including Panch Davinder Singh, Panch Kuldeep Singh, former Sarpanch Mahinder Singh Dhaddwal, Resham Singh, Tarlochan Singh, Surinder Singh, Satpal Chiri, Parmjit, Krishan Singh, Sarabjit Singh Dhaddwal, and other respected residents, were present on the occasion.
