Phagwara: A man sustained serious injures while his wife was killed on the spot when their bike was hit by a speeding tipper near Mehtan village on the National Highway here on Thursday night.



Phagwara: A man sustained serious injures while his wife was killed on the spot when their bike was hit by a speeding tipper near Mehtan village on the National Highway here on Thursday night. The victims have been identified as Saroj Rani and Manjit Singh, both residents of Narur village. They were on their way to Narur village from Jalandhar. The injured was admitted to the Civil Hospital. The body of the deceased has been sent to the Civil Hospital for autopsy. The police have registered a case under Sections 304 and 323 of the IPC against the tipper driver who managed to escape. OC

Man booked in dowry case

Phagwara: On a complaint filed by Baby Bains, a resident of Bhanoki village, the police have registered a case under Section 498-A of the IPC against her husband Charanjit Singh, of Balachaur, on the charge of torturing the complainant to bring more dowry. No arrest has been made so far. OC

Bike stolen

Phagwara: A motorcycle, which was parked in front of a fast food centre at nearby Nanak Nagari locality, in Chiherru, was found stolen on Thursday night. The police have registered a case on a complaint lodged by the bike-owner Rohit Kumar. OC
