Over 13K cases resolved in Hoshiarpur
The District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur, organised the third National Lok Adalat of the year in the district. The Lok Adalat was presided over by District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur, Dilbagh Singh Johal.
A total of 27 benches were constituted for the Lok Adalat, including 11 benches in the judicial courts of Hoshiarpur, four in Dasuya subdivision, three in Mukerian and two in Garhshankar, along with seven benches of the revenue courts.
A total of 16,172 cases were heard in the Lok Adalat of Hoshiarpur district, out of which 13,757 cases were settled on the spot. Along with this, awards of Rs 21,02,55,452 were passed by the court.
During the Lok Adalat, special help desks were arranged by the Police Department for the convenience of people who came to pay their traffic challans so that they can easily submit their challans in the courts.
On this occasion, Dilbag Singh Johal, along with CJM-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Rajpal Rawal, Bar Association Hoshiarpur president Ranjit Kumar and vice president Rajni Nanda, also visited the Lok Adalat benches.
Various types of cases, including Negotiable Instruments Act cases under Section 138 (pending and pre-litigation bank recovery cases), labour disputes, MACT, electricity and water bills (except non-compoundable cases), matrimonial disputes, traffic challans, revenue cases and other civil and petty criminal cases were taken up in this Lok Adalat.
