The North-Zone Inter-University Women’s Basketball Championship, being hosted at the Government Arts and Sports College, Jalandhar, entered its final stage on Monday after the completion of its fifth day. The championship commenced on January 16.

District Sports Officer Gurpreet Singh Bajwa was the chief guest at the event, and was formally welcomed by Principal Ranbir Singh with a sapling as a token of appreciation. The tournament has been conducted under the supervision of AIU Observer Yashwant Gehlot.

Day 5 witnessed a series of league matches. In a closely contested encounter, Panjab University, Chandigarh, edged past Chandigarh University, Mohali, with a narrow (67-64) victory.

In another match, Lovely Professional University defeated Punjab Sports University, Patiala, by a comfortable margin of 53-20.

In the final match of the day, Panjab University, Chandigarh, registered a 60-52 win against Lovely Professional University.
