Phagwara school students bag 59 medals in swimming contest

PHAGWARA: Cambridge International School, Phagwara, won the runners-up trophy at the Inter-School Swimming Competition organised at Police Dav School, Jalandhar, by Jalandhar Sahodaya Schools Complex.

Cambridge International School, Phagwara, won the runners-up trophy at the Inter-School Swimming Competition organised at Police Dav School, Jalandhar, by Jalandhar Sahodaya Schools Complex.

More than 360 school students from Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Kapurthala districts participated in the event. As many as 27 students from Cambridge International School, Phagwara, participated and bagged 59 medals.

Pratham Sondhi (u-19) of Class XII (commerce) bagged gold medal in 50m breast stroke, 50m back stroke, silver in 50m butterfly stroke and bronze in 400m medley relay. Surjeet Singh Bansal (u-17) of Class IX got silver medal in 100 and 200m butterfly stroke, bronze in 200m freestyle, 400m individual medlay and 400m free style.

Ansh Dhunna (u-17) of Class IX won bronze in 800m free style and 400m freestyle relay. Sourav Gogna (u-17) of Class X participated in 500m breast stroke, 100m breast stroke, 200m breast stroke and 400m freestyle and won bronze in each category.

Bhavesh gupta, Bhavesh Arora, Manthan Gaba, Aniket Nanda and Agam Arora (u-14) of Class VII participated in 400m freestyle and 400m medlay relay and bagged bronze.

Vansh Jain, Yaksh Kalra (u-14) of Class VIII also left no stone unturned and secured bronze medals in 400m medley freestyle relay and 100m butterfly. Uday Pratap of Class V (u-11) also showed his talent and skills in 50m breast stroke and 50m butterfly stroke and won bronze in them.

Girls also showcased stupendous performance. Akshita Kalra of Class VIII has shown outstanding feat by fetching gold medal in 50m butterfly stroke, 200m individual medlay, silver medal in 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle. Tanya Puri, a tiny tot of Class IV (u-11) won bronze medal in 50 m butterfly, and in 50 m freestyle.

Turvi Chander, Agrima Sharma and Yugisha participated in 4x100m freestyle relay and won silver in it, thus helping the team achieve second rank.

School principal Jorawar Singh congratulated students and felicitated the winners at a special assembly by giving them certificates and medals. — OC
