PIMS signs MoU for health scheme

The Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) has welcomed the launch and implementation framework of the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana, terming it a transformational initiative.

It has taken the lead by signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government for implementing the scheme, reaffirming its support and readiness to partner with the state for its rollout.

The details of the scheme were deliberated in a high-level meeting chaired by Dr Balbir Singh, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Punjab, in the presence of senior government officials and principals of medical colleges of the state.

The scheme provides comprehensive health coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family for all residents, ensuring timely and cashless access to quality healthcare.

"The Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojana will prove to be a major boon for the residents of Punjab, particularly for economically vulnerable sections. With assured coverage for critical illnesses, major surgeries, diagnostics, and emergency care, the scheme significantly reduces out-of-pocket expenditure and strengthens public confidence in the healthcare system", an official release from the hospital read.

The PIMS expressed confidence that the initiative would significantly improve health outcomes and enhance the quality of life for the people.
