On seeing the police party, the man reportedly panicked and attempted to turn back, prompting officers to apprehend him. Upon questioning, the suspect identified himself as Karan Kalyan, son of Kundan Lal, a resident of Balmiki Mohalla, Bansa Wala Bazaar, Phagwara. A personal search led to the recovery of 5 grams of heroin and four strips of Etizolam, each containing 10 orange-coloured tablets, totalling 40 intoxicant tablets. Police said the recovered substances were seized on the spot, and a case under the NDPS Act was registered against the accused.

Karan Kalyan was taken into custody and further investigation is underway to determine the source of the narcotics, officials added.
