Demonstrating commitment towards public service and effective use of modern technology, Kapurthala police have recovered more than 250 mobile phones that were reported lost, stolen or snatched by residents of the district. The recovered mobile phones, having an estimated total value of around Rs 56 lakh, were returned to their rightful owners after thorough verification.
This recovery was carried out under the overall directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Kapurthala, Gaurav Toora. The operation was supervised by Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Kapurthala Gurpreet Singh, PPS, Superintendent of Police Phagwara Madhvi Sharma, PPS and Deputy Superintendent of Police Daljit Singh, with the Cyber Crime Police Station, Kapurthala, playing a pivotal role. The dedicated efforts of the Cyber Crime team, in coordination with various police units, led to the successful tracing and recovery of the missing devices.
During the investigation, the police utilised technical surveillance and data analysis to track the mobile phones. As a result, nearly 250 mobile phones were recovered from different locations not only within Punjab but also from several other states. Providing details, SSP Shri Gaurav Toora informed that mobile phones were traced and recovered from Bihar (4), West Bengal (3), Uttar Pradesh (6), Delhi (5), Haryana (8), Rajasthan (5) and Himachal Pradesh (2), reflecting the wide geographical spread of the operation and the effectiveness of inter-state coordination.
The SSP further stated that all recovered mobile phones were returned to their original owners after proper ownership verification, bringing relief and satisfaction to the affected citizens. He emphasised that Kapurthala police are continuously working to address public grievances and to ensure that people regain their lost property wherever possible.
Advising the public, SSP Gaurav Toora said that in case a mobile phone is lost, stolen or snatched, citizens should immediately report the incident at the nearest Saanjh Kendra in District Kapurthala. He added that the recovery process is linked with the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR), through which citizens receive regular updates regarding the status of their mobile phones directly on their devices. Citizens can also approach the Cyber Crime Police Station, Kapurthala, for guidance and assistance.
Additionally, complaints regarding lost mobile phones can be registered online through the Sanchar Saathi portal at ceir.sancharsathi.gov.in. The SSP urged people to make maximum use of this facility, as timely reporting greatly increases the chances of recovery.
