The Kapurthala police under SSP Gaurav Toora, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), have reported significant drug recoveries during the first 100 days of 2026, spanning from January 1 to April 9.
Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Toora while giving details told THE TRIBUNE here on Sunday that according to official data, a total of 371 cases were registered under various provisions of the law, leading to the arrest of 463 individuals involved in narcotics-related activities.
The police also seized a substantial quantity of contraband during this period. The recoveries include 18 kg 502 gm 169 mg of heroin, 105 gm of opium and 11 kg of poppy husk. In addition, 220 gm of charas and 255 gm 140 mg of intoxicant powder were confiscated. Authorities further reported the recovery of 82 injections suspected to be used for drug abuse, along with 9,908 tablets and capsules, indicating the widespread nature of synthetic drug circulation.
SSP Gaurav Toora said the campaign against drugs is being carried out with a zero-tolerance policy. “Our teams are working round the clock to identify and apprehend those involved in the drug trade. We are not only targeting peddlers but also focusing on the entire network to ensure long-term impact,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of community participation in the fight against drugs, urging citizens to come forward with information and support the police in building a drug-free society. “Public cooperation remains crucial. Together, we can safeguard our youth and ensure a healthier future,” he added.
