Police arrested a man and recovered 21 bottles of illicit liquor (15,750 ml) from his possession during a raid near village Bholewal (Phillaur) and registered a case under the Excise Act.

The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Punjab Excise Act against Balkar Singh alias Golu, resident of Mau Sahib under Bilga police station on the charges of illegally possessing and selling liquor. According to the police, the police party was present near Bholewal chowk during patrolling when they received specific information that the accused was selling illicit liquor near the Sutlej river bund close to village Bholewal. Acting on the tip-off, the police conducted a raid at the spot and apprehended the accused.

During the search, the police recovered 21 bottles of liquor, each containing 750 ml, totaling 15,750 ml, which the accused was allegedly keeping for illegal sale.
