The Phagwara police are holding a series of meetings with bank officers advising them to take preventive measures to avoid any robbery.

As part of such meetings, DSP Sandeep Mand and SHO of the Phagwara police station Jatinderjit Singh met bankers at the local Rest House here on Friday.

But the local police have failed to crack two major robbery cases.

On November 16, 2005, two armed men on a bike had looted around Rs 33 lakh from Jai Prakash and Amandeep, employees of a private back, at night.

Though an award of Rs2 lakh was announced for giving a clue about the robbers, the police have been groping in the dark for the past 13 years.

The police have also failed to crack another robbery case. On January 9, 2015, Rs50 lakh was robbed in broad daylight.

After the robbery, the then Kapurthala SSP, Dhanpreet Kaur, and SP, Gursewak Singh Brar, were transferred.
