Historically, the ruling party at the local level has enjoyed strong influence in these elections. This year, the competition is expected to be fiercer as parties, including the Aam Aadmi Party, Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party, are fielding candidates with meticulous planning and strategic alliances.

Political leaders across the district are engaged in extensive meetings to finalise candidate lists. Senior party members have been holding back-to-back sessions to ensure that strong contenders are selected. Ground-level surveys and internal assessments are being used to gauge voter sentiment ahead of nominations.

Nominations are scheduled to be filed on December 4, with the final date for withdrawal set for December 6.
