Jalandhar: Jalandhar Independent Schools Sahodaya inter-school slogan writing and poster-making competition was hosted by Swami Sant Dass Public School, Phagwara. As many as 40 schools participated in the event. Students expressed their views through colours and slogans. Topics given for slogan writing were – fight against drugs, blood donation, road safety, be natural and grow organic and for poster-making the theme was ‘Donate Eyes’. The competition was presided over by principal Anju Mehta. The overall winners’ trophy was bagged by DIPS School, Urban Estate, Jalandhar. Doaba Senior Secondary School was given consolation prize. In poster-making, Simarpreet Kaur from DIPS, Dhilwan, got the first position. Devanshi from DIPS Urban Estate, Jalandhar, bagged the II prize and Mishthi from La Blossoms, Jalandhar, clinched the III position. In slogan writing competition, Rania of Doaba Sr Secondary School secured the Ist position. Deepanksha of DIPS Urban Estate, Jalandhar, bagged the II position and Shine Rose, a student of State Public School, Shahkot, got the III position. Junior athletics meet
Jalandhar: State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt, organised a junior athletics meet with gusto. Students displayed an example of rhythmic coordination, patriotism, disciplined team work and strength. Dr Narotam Singh, President of the group of State Public Schools, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Silki Aggarwal was the guest of honour. They declared the meet open. Tiny tots participated in 50-m and 70- m race, slow cycling, balloon race, back race etc. A fete, aiming at depicting rich and glorious culture of West Bengal, Rajasthan, Kashmir and Gujarat was organised. Best teacher award
Jalandhar: Dr Neeru Malhotra an Associate Prof-cum-HoD, of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology, Jalandhar, has been awarded ‘Best Teacher Award’ by the Indian Society for Technical Education. Vice Chancellor Dr Ajay Kumar Sharma offered the award in the presence of Principal Dr Manoj Kumar. Dr Neeru Malhotra has contributed in research work on ‘Cancer treatment by using Antennas’. TNS
Medical shop burgled
Phagwara: A medical shop was reportedly burgled at Model Town area on Wednesday night. The burglars entered the shop after breaking the locks and decamped with a laptop, one camera, one LED, and Rs 14,000.The police have registered a case in this regard. OC
