PowerPoint contest held

Jalandhar: Sanskriti KMV School hosted Jalandhar Sahodaya Inter-school PowerPoint competition for its students.



Jalandhar: Sanskriti KMV School hosted Jalandhar Sahodaya Inter-school PowerPoint competition for its students. The event was inaugurated by Rachna Monga, principal, Sanskriti KMV School. Jury members included Shiv Modgil, managing director, Younic Tech and Gurmeet Kaur, senior coordinator, Sanskriti KMV School. In all, 23 teams participated from schools of Jalandhar cluster. The teams focussed on the global environmental target and achievable goals through progressive measures for checking deforestation, desertification and conserve water resources. Winners of the competition were—The first position was bagged by Woodland Overseas, Hoshiarpur. The second position was won by La Blossom School and Army Public School, Cantt. Kamla Nehru Public School, Phagwara and Police DAV School, Jalandhar, came third. STS World School, Phillaur, received the consolation award.

National integration camp

Jalandhar: A five-day national integration camp on the theme of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat’ concluded at Lyallpur Khalsa College, here. The camp was organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. A total of 250 students from 13 states across the country participated. The concluding day of the camp saw the presence of Pargat Singh (Olympian and MLA), Sukhdev Singh (State Director, Youth Affairs) and Surinder Saini (Dy Director, Youth Affairs). College principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra welcomed the dignitaries and appreciated the virtue of this camp for participants. 

Fresher’s party 

Jalandhar: Mahatma Hans Raj DAV Institute of Nursing hosted its Fresher’s Party to welcome the fresh batches of MSc (N), BSc Nursing 1st year, post-basic of BSc Nursing and GNM on the college campus. Principal Dr Veena Williams and vice-principal Dr Harbans Kaur welcomed the guests. The party commenced with a blast and a plethora of cultural activities, that included folk songs, sammi dance, ghumar, dandia and garba.  Modelling began and freshers showcased their talents. Lovepreet Kaur was chosen as Ms Fresher of BSc Nursing and Ritu Sharma was chosen as Ms Fresher of GNM. The principal encouraged the students to be focused on whatever they do in lives and wished them best of luck for their future endeavours. 

Fun fair carnival held

Jalandhar: MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar, organised a fun fair carnival on its campus, which witnessed the presence of parents and students. They enjoyed at the various rides, fun games and snack stalls. Mukhtar Singh Dhaiya, secretary, MGN Educational Trust, was given a warm welcome by Principal KS Randhawa, vice-principal Gurjit Singh, headmistress (Primary Wing) Sangeeta Bhatia and in-charge (Rainbow wing) Sukham. He took out the raffle ticket draw and prizes were given to the lucky winners. The atmosphere was filled with vibration and enthusiasm. 

Workshop on noise pollution

Jalandhar: A workshop on ‘Noise Pollution’ was organised at HMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School under the guidance of principal Dr Ajay Sareen and coordinator Meenakshi Sayal. The resource persons Prof MP Singh, Prof Beri and. Divya Prabhakar (software engineer) were welcomed by the coordinator. Prof MP Singh apprised the students of how an unpleasant sound causes disruption in natural balance, especially noise is at its peak in most of the social events and it can be largely curbed by spreading public awareness by providing factual information of the harmful effects of the noise. He also told students the maximum sound permissible is 7 decibels. Students also pledged that, they by all means try to reduce the noise pollution. They will aware people regarding its bad effect and try to make a peaceful society.

English debate competition 

Jalandhar: State Public School, Jalandhar Cantt, organised 13th All India S Darshan Singh Memorial English Debate Competition on its school premises. The day became remarkable as 32 schools of different cities participated in this competition. The topic of the debate was ‘Advertising sreates artificial needs’. Dignitaries were engrossed in the ideas of the students and adjudged Police DAV School as the winner and Swami Sant Dass School, Phagwara, as the first runner-up while Swami Sant Dass School, Jalandhar. got the second runner-up trophy. The best speaker was Riya from Gems Cambridge, Hoshiarpur. Khwaish from Bawa Lalwani Public School, Kapurthala, came second and Tanishtha from Spring Dale Public School, Amritsar, remained third. Principal Savina Bahl congratulated the winners. TNS
