Sultanpur Lodhi, November 6
The state government is all set to make adequate arrangements to facilitate the pilgrims visiting the holy town on the occasion of the 551st Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev.
To take a review of the preparations, Sultanpur Lodhi MLA Navtej Singh Cheema, Deputy Commissioner Deepti Uppal and SSP Jaspreet Singh Sidhu took a meeting of higher officials of various departments.
Speaking in the meeting, MLA Cheema said that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh would pay the obeisance on the occasion, besides dedicating the various development projects in the city, including a bridge constructed at a cost of Rs 9.83 crore.
The DC has ordered setting up of committees for reception, parking, pandal, cleanliness and langar arrangements. She said that the mini administrative complex foundation stone would also be laid on the occasion.
Kapurthala SSP Jaspreet Singh Sidhu said that more than 200 CCTV cameras would be installed at various roads which would be connected with the centralised command centre. Besides, special watch towers also to be set up to keep a hawk eye for the security concerns. He said that divers would also be deputed along the banks of holy Bein to avoid any mishap.
The SSP said that parkings would be set up at Talwandi road, RCF road and Lohian road, from where 25 special buses to be deployed for facilitating the pilgrims to reach at Gurdwara Ber Sahib and the main pandal.
It was also decided to set up an emergency call centre and various booths to make adequate arrangements to find out the missing persons during the Gurpurab. The Deputy Commissioner asked the water supply and sanitation department to set up 350 portable toilets besides water ATMs at all main roads.
Prominent among present on the occasion included ADC G Rahul Chabha, Chairman Market Committee Sultanpur Parvinder Singh, SP Mandeep Singh, SDM Sultanpur Lodhi Dr Charumita, DSP Sarvan Singh, BDPO Gurpartap Singh, SDO Balbir Singh, DPO Sneh Lata and SMO Dr Anil Manchanda.
