The Bharatiya Inquilabi Marxist Party (RMPI) and CPI-ML Liberation on Sunday organised strong protest demonstrations in the Jamsher Khas and Santokhpura areas of Jalandhar tehsil against the recent hike in diesel, petrol, LPG and CNG prices by the Central Government.
Addressing the protesters, RMPI tehsil secretary Baldev Singh Noorpuri said that both parties are currently running a public outreach campaign titled “Lokan Kol Challo” which will continue till May 28. During the demonstrations, party leaders highlighted the sharp rise in inflation and accused the government and administrative machinery of allowing black marketing of essential commodities.
Noorpuri stated that the increase in diesel and petrol prices would further raise the cost of daily-use items, worsening the burden on common people who are already struggling with soaring inflation.
He alleged that instead of taking concrete measures to support citizens during the economic crisis, the Modi government is spending thousands of crores on “extravagant publicity campaigns and foreign tours” aimed at enhancing the Prime Minister’s image and benefiting big corporate houses.
