Punjab second among safest states in country: MP Chabbewal

Lok Sabha member Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal launched a sharp attack on the opposition, saying that the BJP and Congress are tarnishing Punjab’s image only for political gains, relying on false facts.

Citing National Crime Record Bureau data, he said that today Punjab ranks second among the safest states in the country. He said that when it comes to crime, out of the 10 states with the highest crime rates, 8 are BJP-ruled and 2 are Congress-ruled.

Referring to POCSO cases, Chabbewal said that according to a report published today in a leading newspaper, the top three states are Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. He questioned why Punjab is being targeted then. “Does telling the truth make them uncomfortable?” he asked.

Directly questioning Sukhbir Singh Badal and Sunil Jakhar, Chabbewal said, “Jakhar sahib, you were the Congress president at that time and the Congress government was in power in Punjab. So who brought Ansari to Punjab? Back then you did not utter a single word, and today you are busy defaming Punjab.”

The AAP spokesperson said that the said data is NCRB data, which is prepared by a central agency, not by the Punjab government or the Aam Aadmi Party. The same report clearly states that Punjab ranks second among the safest states, and that most of the top ten states with the highest crime rates are BJP-ruled.

Chabbewal urged Jakhar not to defame Punjab merely for political mileage and urged him to at least have the courage to speak the truth.
