During the 15th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Hockey Championship being organised by Hockey India in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, the Punjab team has entered the finals defeating Uttar Pradesh 4-3. Giving information in this regard, Hockey Punjab president Nitan Kohli and general secretary Amrik Singh Puar said that the Punjab team performed well. International player Jasjit Singh Kular scored two goals for Punjab, Harjit Singh and Jugraj Singh scored one goal each. Sharada Nand Tiwari scored two goals for Uttar Pradesh and Pawan Rajbhar scored one goal.

In the second semi-final, Madhya Pradesh defeated Manipur 5-3 to enter the finals. Punjab will now face Madhya Pradesh in the final. It is noteworthy that Punjab also won the gold medal in the 13th Hockey India Senior Men’s National Hockey Championship in the year 2023. Jalandhar-born Hardik, who is also vice-captain of the Indian hockey team, is leading the team. He started playing at the age of six.

Holding a hockey stick, he would accompany his grandfather Pritam Singh to the ground and practice with him. Pritam Singh encouraged Hardik to pursue hockey.
