Punjabi songs, ghazals to take centre stage at musical evening in Jalandhar

The city’s cultural calendar is set to strike a musical note on Sunday as Mehfil-e-Mausiqi, a soulful evening dedicated to Punjabi songs, ghazals and poetry, unfolds at Virsa Vihar, Bhagat Namdev Chowk. The programme will begin at 5.30 pm and will feature ghazal singer Sunil Singh Dogra and poet Jaswant Wagla.

Dogra will present a selection of Punjabi songs and ghazals, while Wagla will recite his poetry, bringing melody and verse together on one stage. The evening is planned as a celebration of Punjab’s musical and literary traditions, highlighting an art form that continues to connect with audiences across generations.

The programme will also be attended by Chandan Grewal, Chairman of the Punjab Safai Karamchari Commission; Satnam Singh Manak, Executive Editor of the Rozana Ajit Group; and Dr Lakhwinder Johal of the Punjab Punjabi Lekhak Cooperative Society, Ludhiana, as special guests.

According to the organisers, the event aims to promote Punjabi music and literature while providing a platform for poets, musicians and cultural enthusiasts to come together.

The programme also offers Jalandhar residents an opportunity to experience an evening where music and poetry share the same stage.
