Punjabi youths from UK visit city sports manufacturing unit

JALANDHAR: A delegation of youth from the United Kingdom (UK) which is on a visit to the state under the Punjab Government’s Connect with Your Roots (CYR) programme today lauded the state government for the visionary initiative which help them to connect with the motherland of their forefathers.

A delegation of youth from the United Kingdom (UK) which is on a visit to the state under the Punjab Government’s Connect with Your Roots (CYR) programme today lauded the state government for the visionary initiative which help them to connect with the motherland of their forefathers.

The delegation visited a sports goods manufacturer, Savi International, here, today.

Members of the delegation said this visit was fruitful as it was acting as a platform for them to further cement their ties with society, religion and culture of the state.

They said the initiative had been highly memorable as apart from visiting eminent gurdwaras, they had been able to make a direct connect with the land of their forefathers.

Enthralled over the visit to historical places, they said it has taught a number of things to them, which were hitherto unknown to them.

The delegation also lauded the commendable efforts being made by the state government, led by state Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, for their comfortable stay, boarding and lodging in different districts of the state.

They said above all, the hospitality offered by Punjabis in the state had the same warmth which they feel in every Punjabi settled in any part of the globe.

They said it was a memorable visit which had left an indelible imprint on their minds forever. On the occasion, the delegation was also buoyed over its visit to the sports good manufacturing unit during which they saw the entire process of designing, making and packaging of rugby balls and footballs.

They appreciated the efforts being made by Punjabis to produce quality sports goods which are used by sportspersons across the globe.

Director of Savi International Mukul Verma apprised the delegation about their operations. He also informed the youth about various sports goods produced in the district, which were highly acclaimed across the world. They were welcomed by officers from the district administration.
