Jalandhar, March 4

Jalandhar president of the Shiromani Akali Dal(A) Sukhjit Singh Daroli Kalan was kept under house arrest for the entire day today as the party had announced “rail roko” at various locations across Punjab. The protest had been planned in support of Amritpal Singh, who is lodged in the Dibrugarh jail.

The leader said the police teams came to his place in the wee hours and announced that he would not be allowed to move out of his place to block the rail traffic. The party had planned to block rail traffic on the Jalandhar-Pathankot rail line here.

Party leader Narinder S Khusropur, who had announced to block railway tracks at the Kapurthala railway station, too was kept under preventive detention.

“The police came to my place at 4 am. They are sitting at the gates of my house since then and have told me that I cannot go out. All leaders of my party in Kapurthala have been under house arrest. So, our protest cannot be held today,” he said.
