Refrain from harvesting paddy between 7 pm to 9 am: DC

JALANDHAR:Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jalandhar, today exhorted farmers to refrain from harvesting paddy between 7 pm to 9 am for avoiding high moisture content in the crop which ultimately leads to delay in procurement of their produce.

Deputy Commissioner (DC), Jalandhar, today exhorted farmers to refrain from harvesting paddy between 7 pm to 9 am for avoiding high moisture content in the crop which ultimately leads to delay in procurement of their produce.

The DC, while presiding over a meeting to review the ongoing paddy procurement operation at his residence, said farmers should avoid this practice which would increase their problem in selling the crop. He said the moisture content increased during the night time and if harvested during night time farmers may face problem in procurement of their grains in the mandis. 

The DC appealed to farmers to bring moisture-free grains to the market, adding that the Agriculture Department must make farmers aware of this to avoid any sort of inconvenience to them. 

The DC vide the powers exercised under Section 144 of the CrPC has banned the harvesting of paddy through combine machines from 7 pm to 9 am.
