AAP MP Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal has urged the Union Government to rename Adampur airport after Guru Ravidas, citing that the Punjab Assembly has already approved and forwarded the proposal. Raising the issue in the Lok Sabha, he said the upcoming year-long Parkash Purab celebrations from 2026 to 2027 make it the right moment for the Centre to honour public sentiments. Dr Chabbewal also urged the government to upgrade Adampur airport to international status, arguing that it would greatly benefit the large NRI population from the Doaba region and boost local industry through improved global connectivity. Guru Ravidas Ji’s teachings of equality and compassion continue to inspire millions, and dedicating the airport to the revered Guru would be a fitting tribute reflecting the collective voice of the community, he said.
