Rotary Club inaugurates washroom project at School of Eminence in Jalandhar district

In a significant move towards improving student health and sanitation, the Rotary Club of Jalandhar West in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Fairfield Suisan, Distt 5160, USA, inaugurated a washroom project at the School of Eminence, Ladowali Road, here.

The project is focussed on creating a dignified and hygienic environment for students. The newly-constructed facilities include separate, modern toilet blocks for both boys and girls, as well as high-capacity hand-washing stations designed to promote better health practices among students. 10 units each for boys and girls have been constructed in the school. The strength of the school is nearly 650.

Speaking at the inauguration, steering committee head SPS Grover emphasised that the lack of proper sanitation was a leading cause of school absentees, particularly among girls. “By providing these facilities, we aren’t just building infrastructure. We are ensuring that every child can focus on their education without compromising on their health, hygiene or privacy,” he said.

The inauguration ceremony and ribbon cutting was performed by Vineet Chowdhry, retired Chief Secretary, Himachal Pradesh, chairman of CT Institutes Charanjit Singh Channi and SPS Grover of New Ruby Hospital.

The whole function was conducted under president, Rotary Club, Jalandhar West, Puja Kapoor. The project of washrooms was handed over to the school on the occasion of their alumni meet on December 20. Other prominent Rotarians present were Navneet Arora, Geeta Bhalla, Tarsem Singh, Harbinder Singh, Raman Bhalla, HK Grover, Sushma Chawla, Kuldip Singh, Joginder Singh and Iqbal Singh.
