Rs 2 lakh, cell phone looted from bizman

JALANDHAR: Five miscreants looted Rs 2 lakh and an iPhone from a businessman, Harish Kumar (57), owner of a crockery and gift store located near Plaza Chowk, yesterday night.

Five miscreants looted Rs 2 lakh and an iPhone from a businessman, Harish Kumar (57), owner of a crockery and gift store located near Plaza Chowk, yesterday night. The incident occurred outside the residence of the victim in the Lajpat Nagar locality.

The victim was carrying cash in his bag.

He informed the police that while he was unlocking the gate of his house, five unknown persons took away his bag and the cellphone at gunpoint.

He said as sale increases during Diwali so it took him some extra hours to collect the cash and close the store. When he reached his house at 1.30 am, the miscreants were sitting in a car. As he got off from his car they attacked him.

ASI Basant Singh, who is investigating the case, said the miscreants were waiting for the victim.

Basant Singh said the police had initiated the investigation and were verifying all CCTV camera footage around the Lajpat Nagar.
