Rs 21 lakh looted from liquor contractor

A robbery incident of Rs 21.32 lakh was reported at Transport Nagar here late last night.

As per information, six unidentified youths attacked a liquor contractor and his associate Raman Kumar while they were on their way to deposit the money collected by them in their office at Defence Colony. The victims were coming from Kartarpur when the incident happened around 10.45 pm. The accused had come in a SUV and Verna car. One of the robbers started firing at the victims and in no time his accomplices robbed them of their bag in which the cash was kept. Raman sustained a bullet injury on his ear.

The contractor immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital and after receiving the information, the Division No. 8 police reached the hospital.

SHO Heena Gupta said: “Investigations are on to arrest the accused. One such incident was also reported in the previous month in Transport Nagar.
