Meanwhile, as per information received a majority of the schools and colleges, including Sanskriti KMV School, CT Public School and Doaba College witnessed less strength. Around 20 to 30 per cent students were absent in almost all schools and colleges.. There was also confusion among parents over holiday in schools. However, none of the school declared a holiday today as board exams are close approaching.

Rachna Monga, Principal of Sanskriti KMV School, said: “The strength of students was short today while many who managed to reach were late due to traffic issues as it was raining badly in the morning hours.”

Arshdeep Singh, another parent, said: “We were expecting that it would be a holiday but unfortunately it was not. We even did not wake up our son for the school in the morning as it was raining since last night.”

Gagandeep Singh, a student, said: “Only a few hours of rain put commuters to inconvenience. I hope the authorities improve the drainage system.”
