Pushpa Gujral Science City celebrated Green Consumer Day with the aim to promote sustainable choices and foster eco-friendly living to reduce environmental footprint and contribute to a cleaner, greener planet.

Dr Rajesh Grover, Director, Science City, gave introductory remarks on the occasion. He said Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to play a transformative role in protecting our environment by providing smarter, more efficient solutions to various environmental challenges. He highlighted the transformative impact of AI in promoting energy efficiency, monitoring and managing natural resources, climate change mitigation, smarter waste and wildlife management. Through intelligent decision-making, AI has the potential to support sustainable practices that lead to a greener and more resilient planet, he added.

Munish Soin, Scientist-D programme coordinator, delivered a vote of thanks and encouraged the students to embrace zero waste practices both in their schools and homes. He said that by doing so, they would contribute to sustainability, enhance energy security, improve affordability and ensure broader access to clean energy options for consumers in the long run.

As part of the celebration, a project model competition titled ‘zero waste challenge’ was organised. Approximately 200 students participated, showcasing innovative projects and models demonstrating zero-waste practices implemented in their schools. The first prize was awarded to Sain Dass AS Senior Secondary School, Jalandhar, followed by SPPS School, Begowal, and SGPT School, Bhogpur.
